Vitalik Buterin Publishes Roadmap for Faster Layer-1 Execution
The Ethereum co-founder outlined a set of proposals intended to speed up execution on the base layer while preserving decentralisation.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a lengthy blog post outlining a set of proposals aimed at scaling the base-layer execution environment without compromising node accessibility. The document builds on previous work around statelessness and history expiry.
Among the ideas discussed were increased gas limits contingent on client optimisations, more aggressive use of state expiry, and coordinated hardware baselines for validators. Buterin argued that layer-1 execution improvements should complement, not replace, the rollup-centric roadmap.
The post prompted extensive discussion on the Ethereum Magicians forum, with client teams and layer-2 developers weighing in on the trade-offs.
