More Than a Third of All Ether Now Staked

The share of total Ether supply that is staked has continued to grind higher, according to consensus-layer dashboards. More than a third of all ETH is now locked into validators, either directly or through liquid staking protocols.

The Pectra hard fork raised the maximum effective balance per validator, allowing large operators to consolidate stake while reducing the number of validators the network needs to gossip about. That change has removed some structural friction that had capped the growth of institutional stakers.

Analysts continue to debate the optimal staking ratio, with researchers cautioning against a scenario in which too much supply becomes economically inert.
