Layer-2 Fees Hit Fresh Lows as Blob Market Cools

Median transaction fees on major Ethereum layer-2 networks fell to fresh lows over the past month as competition for blob space eased. Data from L2Fees.info shows Arbitrum, Optimism and Base each posting median swap and transfer costs measured in fractions of a cent.

The drop reflects both the ongoing increase in aggregate blob capacity following EIP-4844 and a broader cooling in speculative activity that had previously congested blob markets during memecoin cycles.

Rollup teams argue that sustained low fees are the strongest advertisement for the layer-2 model, though several projects have simultaneously been re-examining sequencer revenue and long-term sustainability.
